Transit Rules and Etiquette

Follow these guidelines to help keep your trip safe and comfortable for everyone.

Boarding the bus

  • arrive at your stop 5 minutes before your scheduled arrival
  • stand near the curb, in plain sight of the driver
  • have your cash, ticket or pass ready. Drivers do not carry change, so exact fare is required

What you can bring

  • you can bring easy-to-carry items on board. Drivers may limit large or bulky items at their discretion
  • you must be able to load, unload and manage your own items. Bring a support person if you need help, since drivers are not able to assist
  • fold and stow collapsible items so they do not block the aisle
  • keep backpacks, skateboards and packages out of the aisle and off seats
  • non-collapsible strollers, wagons, bikes, grocery carts and bundle buggies are not allowed

Children and strollers

Children must sit in a seat, not on an adult's lap. Remove children from strollers, and collapse the stroller to fit between seats. Non-collapsible strollers are not allowed.

Pets and service animals

Please see our Accessible Transit page

Other rules

  • smoking is not allowed on the bus, at the hub, or in bus shelters
  • we have a zero-tolerance policy for rude or offensive language toward staff. Callers who violate this policy will be disconnected
