Surrendering a Pet
We understand there are times when you may need to surrender your pet. Follow these steps to start the process:
Steps to surrender
- Consider all of your options. Demand at animal shelters is high, so we recommend exploring other options first.
- Could a trusted friend or family member take your pet?
- Check our Wildlife Resources section for a list of local rescue groups that may be able to help.
- If your pet has behaviour issues, seek professional advice or services. A medical condition may be the cause.
- Complete the application. Complete the surrender application and Animal Services will contact you to discuss next steps.
- Share information about your pet. Provide any vet records or relevant information to help us find them a new home.
