The airport can accommodate piston and turboprop aircraft as well as small and large corporate-class jets.

The airport does not have an air traffic control tower. A trained radio operator provides airport advisories to arriving and departing aircraft, with pilots responsible for maintaining appropriate operating separation.

Pilots should always consult current official aeronautical publications and notices for operational information before flying to or from the airport.

The St. Thomas Municipal Airport operates throughout the year, including during the winter months.

The airport is equipped with airfield lighting and instrument approaches to assist aircraft operating at night and during less favourable weather conditions.

The airport is closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

Canada Customs and Immigration services are available at the St. Thomas Municipal Airport.

Great Lakes International Airshow

The St. Thomas Municipal Airport was also home to the Great Lakes International Airshow, which brought classic and modern aircraft and aviation enthusiasts to the community.

The event provided an opportunity for residents and visitors to experience aviation while showcasing St. Thomas to participants and spectators from across the region and beyond.
