Swimming Pools

A Swimming Pool Fence Permit is required before constructing a swimming pool enclosure. The permit process ensures that proposed pool fencing meets the requirements of the City's Swimming Pool Fence By-law, zoning standards, and applicable safety regulations.

It is the responsibility of the property owner (or their authorized agent) to obtain a Swimming Pool Fence Permit before installing a pool or enclosure when one is required. Property owners must also complete a Site Alteration and Grading Application to ensure that any changes to the property grading or drainage do not negatively impact neighbouring properties.

When is a Swimming Pool Fence Permit Required?

A Swimming Pool Fence Permit and Site Alteration and Grading Application are required for all swimming pools regulated under the City’s Swimming Pool Fence By-law, including amendments to By-law 56-2011 and By-law 162-2020.

If you are planning to install a swimming pool, please review the Swimming Pool Fence Guide before beginning your application.
