Follow these steps to adopt a dog or cat from our shelter:

Steps to adopt

1. Submit your application. Fill out the adoption application form for a dog or a cat.
2. Wait for our Adoption Team to review it. We review every application to find the best match for the pet and your family.
3. Attend a meet and greet. If your application is successful, we will arrange a time for you to meet the pet.
4. Complete the adoption paperwork and pay the fee. Once you decide to adopt, you will finish the paperwork and submit payment.
5. Pick up your pet. We will book a pickup appointment at the shelter. Our team will be there to help and answer your questions.

Adoption fees

Our adoption fees cover spay or neuter surgery, microchipping, the first set of vaccinations, deworming and flea treatment.

• Dog: $375
• Cat: $175

Disclaimers

• We update Petfinder as often as we can, but we recommend you visit the shelter in person to meet all of our adoptable animals
• Staff members are not always at the shelter throughout the day. Please call 519-631-7430 to book an appointment before you visit
• We evaluate every animal's health and behaviour, but we cannot guarantee the health or temperament of any animal
• The City Animal Services Centre can refuse any adoption
• We may receive more than one application for the same pet. We choose the best match based on the animal's needs and your family's lifestyle
• Submitting an application does not reserve a pet or guarantee adoption
• Because we receive a high number of applications, we only contact the successful applicant for a meet and greet
• We cannot accept applications for animals that are not listed on our website or Petfinder, and we cannot respond to incomplete applications
• We post animals as soon as they are ready for adoption. We cannot predict when a specific animal will become available
