St. Thomas Police Services
The St. Thomas Police Service is committed to providing professional, responsive, and community-focused policing that protects life and property, preserves the peace, prevents crime, assists victims, and builds safe, healthy neighbourhoods through enforcement, prevention, education, and collaborative partnerships. In accordance with the Community Safety and Policing Act and Ontario's Adequacy and Effectiveness Standards, the Service delivers 24/7 policing across all mandated core functions, including emergency response, crime prevention, criminal investigations, public order, traffic safety, intelligence, major incident management, and specialized services.
The St. Thomas Police Service is governed by the St. Thomas Police Services Board, which is legislatively responsible for providing governance, oversight, strategic direction, and accountability for the Service. The Chief of Police is responsible for the administration and day-to-day operation of the Service. The City of St. Thomas Council approves the annual police budget, ensuring the Service has the financial resources necessary to provide adequate and effective policing to the community.
