Volunteer at Valleyview

We are always interested in hearing from volunteers in the following areas:

  • Hair Salon assistant
  • One-to-One visits
  • Special events and outings
  • Daily programs and activities
  • Pastoral care

Meals

We prepare meals on site and serve them in dining rooms in each resident home area. Every meal includes a main menu option and an alternate. We develop our menus with input from residents through Resident Council and Food Committee.

We can accommodate special diets. Our dietitian assesses and monitors resident diets daily.

If you would like to share a meal with a resident, call by 10:30 a.m. for lunch or 3:30 p.m. for supper. We post the weekly menu outside the dining room so you can plan ahead.

Resident and family advocacy

We seek resident input into care and programs through several forums, including our monthly Resident Council meeting. Council has an elected president and a staff liaison, and discusses topics like activities, food and upcoming events.

If a resident cannot express themselves, family members are welcome to attend and share the resident's opinion on their behalf.

We also seek family input through personal discussions, care conferences and our Family Council.

Family Council is a family-led initiative, supported by our Recreation Supervisor as a staff liaison. It gives families a space to support each other, share experiences and work through common concerns together.

We hold care conferences annually to review each resident's care. Families can call anytime with questions or concerns, and are welcome at any program, outing or event at the home.
