Recycling
As of January 1, 2026, recycling collection in St. Thomas, and across Ontario, changed under the Blue Box Regulation (O. Reg. 391/21).
See the Collection Schedule page to find your collection day.
Why recycling collection changed
Under Ontario's Waste-Free Ontario Act, the province moved to a model called Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR). Under this model, the companies that make and sell packaging and paper products are now responsible for collecting and recycling them after use.
Circular Materials Ontario, a non-profit organization representing producers, now oversees all curbside recycling collection and processing in the province.
