Community Recycling Centre

The Community Recycling Centre serves residents of St. Thomas, the Township of Southwold, the Municipality of Central Elgin, the Town of Aylmer and Malahide Township.

Monday CLOSED

Tuesday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Wednesday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Hazardous Waste accepted on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Thursday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Saturday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Hazardous Waste accepted on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Sunday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Rates and accepted items

You must show proof of residency in a participating municipality, such as a driver's licence or a work order for the property where the waste was generated.

A minimum charge of $30 applies to all loads with chargeable material.

We accept Visa, Mastercard and debit. We do not accept cash.

Scrap metal, including non-refrigerant appliances Free

Yard waste and brush, up to 5 bags per visit Free, then $15 per load

Untagged refrigerant appliances $55 per unit

Mixed solid waste, including mattresses, furniture, carpeting and flooring $140 per tonne

Shingles $100 per tonne

Mixed construction and demolition material, such as wood and drywall $100 per tonne

Concrete, brick and block $60 per tonne

Clean wood $100 per tonne

Community Recycling Centre rules and instructions

The City is committed to keeping everyone safe when visiting the Community Recycling Centre. Please follow these important safety rules and instructions to help ensure a safe experience for you, your passengers and our staff:

  • report to the scale attendant when you arrive
  • keep children under 12 in the vehicle
  • keep pets in the vehicle
  • do not smoke on site
  • secure your load properly
  • follow all posted traffic signs
  • do not remove items from the site

Site attendants can reject any load or object that may pose a safety hazard.
