Plumbing Permits

A Plumbing Permit is required whenever a plumbing system is installed, repaired, replaced, or altered.

Plumbing permits help protect the health and safety of building occupants by ensuring that plumbing systems are installed in accordance with the Ontario Building Code and applicable regulations. It is the responsibility of the property owner (or their authorized agent) to obtain a plumbing permit before work begins when one is required.

When is a Plumbing Permit Required?

A plumbing permit is generally required for:

  • New plumbing installations
  • Repairs to existing plumbing systems
  • Replacements or renewals of plumbing components
  • Alterations or modifications to plumbing systems

If you are unsure whether your project requires a plumbing permit, please contact Planning & Building Services before beginning any work.
