Parking

The City of St. Thomas offers several parking options across the city, including downtown municipal lots, street parking and overnight permits.

Parking enforcement

By-law Enforcement staff and St. Thomas Police Service enforce parking rules under the Traffic and Parking By-law.

  • Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.: contact Customer Service at 519-631-1680 and press 0
  • After 5:30 p.m. on weekdays, and all day on weekends and holidays: contact St. Thomas Police Service at 519-631-1224

Reminders

  • parking on your lawn is not allowed, under Zoning By-law 50-88 Section 4.2.6(b), and may result in a ticket
  • shared driveways are a private matter between property owners, and are not eligible for city parking permits

Common parking fines

Some parking restrictions come with a set fine even without posted signage. These fines are set out in the Traffic and Parking By-law.

Parking on a sidewalk, crosswalk or boulevard, too close to a driveway or lane entrance, or too far from the curb $35

Parking longer than 5 hours (6 a.m. to midnight) for a non-commercial vehicle, or 2 hours for a commercial vehicle $50

Parking on a city street between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m., November 15 to March 15 $50
