The City of St. Thomas has partnered with Ontario Fire Administration Inc. (OFAI) Candidate Testing Services for firefighter recruitment. OFAI provides a standardized testing process for candidates pursuing a municipal firefighting career in Ontario, assessing aptitude, interpersonal skills, physical ability and practical firefighting skills.

To apply, you need valid OFAI Candidate Testing Services certificates for Stage One, Two and Three, plus a swim test. Your certificates must be valid at the time of application.

Training

Our Training Division assigns monthly training schedules across our 4 platoons, and provides instruction in specialty areas, including:

• water and ice rescue
• confined space rescue
• pump operations
• driver training
• high-rise operations
• auto extrication

The Training Division works closely with every division in the department to keep our service to St. Thomas residents at the highest standard.
