Inspections

After the permit has been issued and the payment has been made, the applicant will be provided with the approved drawings, permit, and required inspections list via download from Cloudpermit.

It is the Owner’s & Permit Holder’s responsibility to call and request inspections at the various stages listed on the Required Inspections sheet before continuing construction, and Final inspection after all work is complete.

The inspection request must be made to allow 24-48 hours advance notice to the Building Inspector, excluding weekends and statutory holidays.

You can schedule inspections through the following:

If calling or emailing, please include the permit number, address and specific inspection(s) from your permit inspection list that you want to schedule.

  • Contact the building department at each required inspection.
  • Notify the building department about any proposed changes or alterations, which may require approval before proceeding with work.

Final Inspection and Closing the Permit

When all work and required inspections, including other approvals (eg site alteration, minor variance conditions) have been completed, the final inspection can be completed and the building permit will then be closed.

An open building permit is flag against the property and may cause a problem when selling the property or during a re-financing process.
