City of St. Thomas Animal Services Opens New Shelter Facility

The City of St. Thomas Animal Services has officially opened the doors to its new shelter facility at 325 Bill Martyn Parkway, marking an exciting milestone for animal care and services in the community.
The new shelter provides a modern, purpose-built space designed to better support animals in the City’s care, while improving the experience for staff, volunteers, adopters, and residents who access Animal Services programs.
The move to the new facility has been years in the making, made possible through the support of the community, donors, volunteers, and City partners who helped bring this important project to life.
“Opening this new Animal Services facility is a proud moment for our community,” said Mayor Joe Preston. “This new shelter reflects our commitment to providing compassionate care for animals while creating a welcoming and functional space for the dedicated team who supports them every day. I want to thank everyone who contributed to making this vision a reality.”
As the team settles into the new building, residents are asked for their patience while final details are completed. Animal Services phone lines are currently being established. In the meantime, residents can contact the City’s Customer Service department at 519-631-1680 and follow the prompts to be connected with Animal Services, or press 0 during business hours to speak with Customer Service.
Visitors to the shelter may also experience temporary delays as staff work through minor technical issues with the building’s entry system. If the front door is locked upon arrival, residents can call for assistance and a staff member will help provide access.
The City looks forward to welcoming residents to the new Animal Services shelter and continuing to provide high-quality care for animals in the community.
