Use, Protection and Regulation of Parks and Recreation Areas in the City of St. Thomas By-Law 111-2008

Visitors to St. Thomas will be impressed by our parks and recreation facilities. We have one of the most outstanding parks systems for a city its size with 38 parks spread over 600 acres.

Leave Your Mark on Waterworks Park!! If you are interested in purchasing a commemorative or memory bench in one of the City's beautiful parks please contact the Administration office at 519-633-7112 for price and locations. Only 2 benches left in Waterworks! Now selling benches around Lake Margaret and at Jumbo.

The Parks and Recreation Department invites you to enjoy the beauty and recreational delights of its two main parks:

  • Pinafore Park, in the southwest section of the city, offers 111 acres, including a beautiful woodlot, Lake Margaret addition and numerous walking trails with major events drawing thousands of visitors each year.
  • Waterworks Park, at the northern city limits, is 100 acres, (40 hectares), of recreational trails and naturalized areas and ranks with the top beauty spots of Southern Ontario. 35 acres of managed park lands consisting of beautifully manicured gardens, pavilions, playground and splashpad.

Washrooms are opened daily 8am - 8pm Victoria Day weekend in May through to Labour Day in September each year (weather permitting). The outside accessible washrooms open daily 8am- 4pm outside of the above dates.

Splashpads at Pinafore and Waterworks will be open first weekend in June until September weather permitting.
