Air Quality Warning Issued for St. Thomas and Area

 Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued an Orange Air Quality Warning for Elgin County and surrounding areas due to wildfire smoke affecting southwestern Ontario.


Residents are encouraged to monitor air quality conditions, reduce time spent outdoors if needed, and take precautions—especially older adults, young children, pregnant individuals, and those with heart or lung conditions.

Due to the air quality warning, some City programs have been adjusted:

Jaycees Pool:
AquaFit, Lane Swim and Evening Public Swim are cancelled for the evening of Wednesday, July 15, 2026. AquaFit and Lane Swim are also cancelled for the morning of Thursday, July 16, 2026.

 Reminder:
  •  The Joe Thornton Community Centre remains open as a cooling station.
  •  City splash pads are open and available for use.
