There are currently over 1,100 subsidized housing units in St. Thomas and Elgin County, including townhouses, apartments, duplexes, and single-family homes for families, single tenants, and seniors.

The Tenant Handbook provides you with important information that will help answer some questions you may have. In addition to helpful Housing contacts and phone numbers, this handbook addresses such queries as

What is the Visitor Policy?
How can I pay my rent?
Are pets allowed in my unit?
What do I do in the event of a fire?
Can I paint my unit?

Please fill out the form to the best of your ability, and indicate whether you are willing to attend the Landlord Tenant Board as a witness regarding this matter, if needed.

Completed complaint forms can be forwarded to your Housing Programs Coordinator for review.

To be considered for a transfer, you must first meet the following criteria*:

You must have resided in your current unit for at least one year
Your rental account must be up-to-date and shows a history of being up-to-date with no late payments for at least six months -- all maintenance charges must be paid, if applicable
The unit you are requesting to be transferred from is clean and in need of no repairs beyond normal wear and tear
Your tenant file must not reveal any major complaints from other tenants or Housing staff

*NOTE: Medical or family violence reasons may be exempt from this criteria with documentation.
