
Nominations are now open for the 2026 Municipal Election in the City of St. Thomas. Residents interested in running for municipal office may now file their nomination papers.
The nomination period runs from May 1, 2026 to August 21, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. Candidates must submit their nomination in-person, along with the required forms, endorsements, and filing fee.
Positions available in this election include Mayor, eight Councillor seats, and several School Board Trustee roles representing English public, English separate, French public, and French separate systems.
The City is encouraging residents from all backgrounds and experiences to consider running and contributing to the future of the community through public service.
A candidate list is available on the City’s website and will be updated regularly as nominations are received.
In addition, individuals, corporations, and trade unions planning to advertise in support of or opposition to a candidate must register as third party advertisers before incurring expenses.
Voting Day is Monday, October 26, 2026, with remote internet and telephone voting taking place from October 13-26, 2026.
