Watermain Upgrades to Cause Temporary Low Water Pressure in Southwold, Lynhurst, and North Side of St. Thomas
Posted on 06/16/2025

As part of the Highbury Avenue widening project, the City of St. Thomas will be shutting down a water booster station on Friday, July 11 at 8:00 p.m. to complete important maintenance work. The shutdown is expected to last 16 to 24 hours, with water service anticipated to return by Saturday, July 12.

This timing has been deliberately chosen to occur overnight and into the weekend to minimize disruption to residents and local businesses.

During this period, residents in Lynhurst and communities within Southwold will experience lower than normal water pressure. St. Thomas residents located north of Highway 3 may also notice reduced pressure.

Please refer to the map below for details on the affected area:

To help maintain service levels, the Municipality of Dutton Dunwich has agreed to back feed Southwold’s water supply. Without this support, Southwold would face a complete loss of water rather than low pressure. The City of St. Thomas appreciates this important regional cooperation.

Residents are asked to conserve water during the shutdown. Coordination with local fire services has been completed to ensure operational readiness.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we complete this essential infrastructure work to support the City’s continued growth. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
