Drop-In Programs

The City of St. Thomas offers several drop-in activities you can join without registering in advance.

All gym and skating drop-in programs run out of the Joe Thornton Community Centre.

Location: Doug Tarry Room at the Joe Thornton Community Centre

Cost: Single admission (all ages): $5

Programs:

  • pickleball
  • badminton

Drop-in gym schedules change seasonally and are subject to cancellation.

Location: Joe Thornton Community Centre

Cost: 

  • Single admission (all ages): $5
  • 3-month pass: $46.46 + HST (for adult leisure skate only)
  • Season pass: $116.15 + HST (for adult leisure skate only)

Programs:

  • Parent and tot skate (no sticks and pucks)
  • Little players (sticks and pucks allowed)
  • Kids shinny
  • Adult leisure skate
  • Adult shinny
  • Figure skate (skate # required)

Children 12 and under MUST wear a CSA-approved hockey helmet for all drop-in skating. We strongly recommend a face cage as well.

Our schedule depends on facility bookings and may change.

Location: Joe Thornton Community Centre

Dates and Times: Sundays from 1:15 to 2:45 p.m. (September to May)

Cost:

  • Single admission (all ages): $5
  • Family (up to five people, including one adult: $15

We accept payment in the form of cash or debit.

Rules:

  • maximum capacity: 175 skaters
  • children 12 and under must wear a CSA-approved hockey helmet. We strongly recommend a face cage as well
  • skates must be worn at all times on the ice. Regular footwear is not permitted
  • follow the posted direction and flow of skating
  • follow staff instructions at all times
  • report any incidents or injuries to Ice Cruisers or staff right away

Not permitted on the ice:

  • skate assists, skating aids, chairs or walkers
  • strollers or carriers
  • food or drinks
  • cell phone use
  • sticks, pucks, balls or toys
  • backward skating
  • racing, speed skating or games of tag
  • figure skating maneuvers, spins or jumps
  • carrying another person
  • throwing snow or ice

Safety expectations:

  • skate in control at all times
  • watch for beginner skaters and children
  • unsafe behaviour may result in removal from the ice

Dates and Times: Open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The fitness track closes at 5 p.m. on Friday evenings before St. Thomas STARS games and is closed on holidays.

Lockers are available for use (with your own lock)
