St. Thomas thanks City Manager for Leadership

St. Thomas City Council will begin recruitment for a new City Manager as incumbent Sandra 
Datars Bere has announced her departure. Sandra has accepted the position of City Manager 
with the City of London and will be departing her leadership role with St. Thomas at the end of 
April 2024.

Mayor Joe Preston stated, “On behalf of City Council, City Staff, and the community, I want to 
thank Sandra for her public service and guiding leadership in support of the City. With Sandra’s 
assistance, we have delivered on our strategic priorities, creating housing and community 
services, modernizing approaches, and securing important industrial development opportunities 
that will ensure the City continues to grow and prosper. We wish Sandra well in her new position
at the City of London and look forward to continued regional opportunities and engagement.”

“I want to express my sincere thanks and appreciation to City Council, staff, and community members. It has been a tremendous honour to return to the community to lead the administrative activities of the City, in partnership with all key stakeholders. I know that under the City’s dedicated elected officials and committed leadership and staff teams that there will be continued success and a bright future,” stated Datars Bere.

The City of St. Thomas will initiate recruitment activities over the next short period of time to fill 
this important role.
