St. Thomas Advocates for Change at 2023 ROMA Conference
Posted on 01/20/2023
Mayor Joe Preston, Councillor Gary Clarke, and City Manager Sandra Datars Bere will join over 1,000 participants from municipalities and organizations from across Ontario as they participate in the 2023 ROMA Annual General Meeting and Conference. The event will take place from January 22nd to 24th 2023 in Toronto; the first in-person conference in 2 years.

At this year’s conference, the City of St. Thomas will meet with the:

Ministry of Transportation
Ministry of the Attorney General

As part of these delegations, topics this year include increased support for inter-community transportation connections and initiatives and calls for support on imposing more effective consequences for continued breaches of judicial interim release order. Currently, unconfirmed delegation meetings include the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (increased affordable housing support) and the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks (brownfield remediation funding).

To highlight these topics and other areas of ongoing advocacy work, the Provincial Advocacy Plan document has been updated for 2023 and showcases the ongoing priorities and directions of Council as they relate to working with the elected Provincial government to realize our strategic plan goals of being a compassionate, vibrant, and thriving community.
