Street Sweeper FAQs

How often are the streets swept?
Our street sweeper starts its routes early spring, weather permitting. City Crews aim to have all residential or secondary routes completed a minimum of two (2) times per year.
When will the street sweeper be in my area?

Talbot Street and the blocks off of the main street are done every Monday and Friday during the season. The sweeper then does all Class 2, 3 and 4 roads - which are the higher volume streets. Next it proceeds to heavy treed areas such as courthouse district. The routes then move across the City moving from West to East until the entire city has been swept.

Why does the street sweeper start so early in the morning?
The street sweeper operates between 4:00am until noon during the season. The sweeper needs to start at this early hour to avoid traffic and be able to safely navigate around islands and roundabouts.
