Animal Adoption

  • Please visit Petfinder to see animals that are available at the shelter.
  • If you are interested in adopting a shelter pet, you can submit your application.
  • Our Adoption Team will review your application
  • If you are the successful applicant, we will arrange a meet and greet of the pet.
  • Completion of adoption paperwork and payment
  • Our team will set an appointment for you to pick up your new pet using contactless pick up at the shelter.  Team members will be present, maintaining physical distancing, to help see the pet off with their new family and answer any questions.

Please Note:  Please keep in mind that there are often numerous applications for the one animal.  Our goal is to find the best match for the animals in our care based on the animal's needs.  Please note that this application does not reserve the pet you are interested in or guarantee an adoption.  Due to the overwhelming number of applications, we will only be contacting the successful application for contactless meet and greets.

Lost and Adoptable Dogs and Cats

Lost or stray dogs or cats can be turned in by residents or captured by City Animal Services staff. Please contact The City Animal Services Centre at 519-631-7430. For a list of lost and adoptable dogs and cats please visit our Petfinder webpage.

Upon entering a dog or cat as stray or lost, City Animal Services staff scans for the presence of an identification microchip. If a microchip is found, ownership information is obtained and the lost or stray animal is returned to the owner. The City Animal Services Centre recommends that owners microchip their dogs and cats.
