Coyne Street and Simcoe Street Construction

 

The City plans to reconstruct Coyne Street and Simcoe Street.  This work is being undertaken as part of the continuing effort to renew aging infrastructure, using the Complete Streets approach.

  • Construction is underway on Simcoe Street until mid-July.
  • Coyne Street construction will begin late-July and end mid-October

Street Cross Sections
The new streetscape will feature standard lane widths, grass boulevards, and improved accessibility through the installation of a new sidewalk on the West side of Simcoe Street.

During construction the road will be closed to through traffic but will remain open to local traffic.

Project Overview

Work Involved

  • Remove existing asphalt and concrete within the City right-of-way
  • Remove and replace existing sewers and watermain
  • Install new asphalt road surface, curbs and gutters, walkway, sidewalk and sidewalk ramps.
  • Restore with topsoil and sod in disturbed lawn areas.

Announcements
A Public Information Centre will be held February 2, 2023 from 6:00 pm to 8:00pm at City Hall in Room 204.  For more information please see the Coyne and Simcoe Street Public Information Centre Notice.

The project is scheduled to begin March 2023, and is to be complete by September.  The contractor will do their best to maintain driveway access and access to Churchill Crescent.  Notice will be provided when disruptions are to occur.
