On Monday, April 12, 2021, the Premier of Ontario announced that all publicly funded and private elementary and secondary schools in the province will move to teacher-led remote learning when students return from the April break on April 19, 2021. Private schools operating in-person will transition to remote learning by April 15, 2021.

To support the parents of school-aged children who may not be able to support their child’s learning/care at home during the week when elementary schools are operating virtually, the Ministry of Education has implemented a targeted emergency child care (ECC) program for school-aged children, at no cost to eligible families.

Applications are available on our Children's Services page.

Emergency child care services are reserved exclusively for the children of essential workers, as defined by the Province of Ontario in O. Reg. 82/20, s. 5: https://www.ontario.ca/laws/regulation/200082#BK11.
