Resident input into care and programs is sought through a variety of forums. One forum is the monthly Resident Council Meeting. There is an elected president of the Council and a liaison staff person that directs the meeting. At the meeting various topics are discussed including Activities, Food and upcoming events. If a resident is not able to express themselves, families are welcome to come with the resident to express the resident's opinion.
Family input into care and programs is also sought through a variety of forums, personal discussion, care conferences and Family and Friends Council.
Family Council is a new initiative directed from the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care. The Valleyview Family and Friends Council is an organized venue for families working together to provide support, share experiences and seek solutions to common problems. Family and Friends Council is family-led with our Volunteer Coordinator acting as a staff liaison, and meetings are held the third Wednesday of the month.
